Co Curricular Programme – Senior Team

Jonathan Ling
Director of Music

Mr Ling attended Shrewsbury School as a Music Scholar and gained a 2:1 Degree in Music from the University of Exeter, followed by a PGCE in Secondary Music from Worcester College of Higher Education. He has gained considerable experience as Director of Music in the independent school sector in the UK and overseas within the 3-18 age range. Mr Ling joined Eureka College in 2013 and is responsible for the Music Curriculum to Years 3-13 as well as overseeing the musical aspects of the 2nd Curriculum programme. He is also a Grade Examiner for ABRSM.

Mr Ling ensures that music and singing are at the heart of Eureka College within the school, with House Singing and Instrumental competitions being highly anticipated events in the school calendar. He also encourages participation and collaboration in events in the local community, recently hosting a choral concert at Brecon Cathedral for local primary schools, combined with Eureka College musicians, performing Zimbe! By Alexander L’Estrange. He also encourages musicians to participate in South Powys Youth Music, and for singers to join the Cathedral Choir and Cathedral Consort

Lucy Richards
Director of Performing Arts

Mrs Richards joined Eureka College as a Drama teacher and became Director of Performing Arts in 2019. With significant professional experience at the London School of Musical Theatre, she has developed an invaluable understanding of evolving pupils’ creativity and inspiring individual development through drama. Her well established links with well renowned companies in the theatre world including Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Masterclasses with professional West End Performers have enabled pupils to take on ambitious productions. Mrs Richards is also working with Mid Wales Dance Academy to add ballet to the portfolio too.

Mrs Richards believes Drama goes beyond performance by creating a strong back stage team to support each production where everyone has a valuable part to play. Links with local stage tech companies such as C.O.B.R.A. and stage set companies ensure that pupils receive up to date guidance and a real life experience of theatre.

Chris Kerr
Director of Outdoor Education

Christopher Kerr joined Eureka College in September 2020, after 30 years of service in the Armed Forces, to deliver the school’s outdoor education programme. Christopher brings a wealth of experience in military and outdoor pursuits instruction and training programme delivery.

An experienced outdoor pursuits manager, as well as a qualified coach in Rugby and Boxing , Christopher will lead on the delivery of the school’s Beacons Challenge programme for Years 4-12 and oversee the Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
