We offer flexi boarding, weekly boarding and full boarding options at Eureka College, and we are proud that both our day and boarding pupils consider the school a home-from-home and quickly develop a sense of belonging and loyalty to their house.
Each house has a dedicated team of staff. These include a Houseparent (who is a teacher at the school and lives in the House with their family), an Assistant Houseparent, and a team of dedicated House Tutors who are on hand to offer academic and pastoral support throughout the evenings.
In a recent inspection, Care Inspectorate Wales commented “We found children experience boarding as a supportive, community-centred environment that promotes safety, belonging and positive relationships.
Children across age groups desribed a strong ‘family feel’, telling us there is always someone available to talk to and staff are approachable, respectful and responsive to their needs.”
Our Houseparent’s and their support teams ensure that a welcoming family atmosphere is created, and all take an active approach to pastoral care and pupil welfare. One pupil said ‘“All of the Houseparent’s and tutors are great, they always help me with any problem, in a sense they’re like my second parents.”
Staff in the boarding houses know our pupils extremely well. This happy, caring environment ensures that all pupils have several people to turn to in times of need. The building of strong friendships is at the heart of boarding life and our excellent boarding routines balance the need to support academic progress with providing the time for meaningful adventures and experiences at the weekend both on and off-site.
Visitors to our school often describe it as ‘friendly’, a reflection of our small, but strong community. The quality of relationships among staff, pupils, parents and alumni, foster a network of opportunities that benefit our pupils during their time at the school and beyond, long after they have completed their time at the school.
